OUR TRAVELS ~ RAINBOW BEACH PHOTO DIARY

OUR TRAVELS ~ RAINBOW BEACH PHOTO DIARY

Last winter, we escaped the chill and headed to Rainbow Beach in Queensland for a short family break. We highly recommend it if you like an outdoor, low-key, picturesque and adventurous (if you choose) family getaway.

We stayed: Four nights at the Plantation Resort, Rainbow Beach.
We ate: We took our own breakfast and lunch (there are convenience stores in town) and opted to eat out for dinner each night at local establishments Arcobaleno on the Beach (delicious Italian for pizzas and their absolutely delicious pumpkin ravioli - thanks for the tip April Munro), as well as Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Fish and Chips from the local co-op and a pub meal at Rainbow Beach Hotel.
Coffee: We love a morning drop and found the local Cafe Jilarty did the trick.
Other spots: We found a juice and Acai bowl bar serving sandwiches in town. We took the kids to Tin Can Bay to feed the dolphins early one morning, which they loved, and ate breakfast there afterwards.
Highlights: Taking the 4WD through the bush track each day to hit the beach for a full day of swimming, beach time and fresh prawns and cold beers was the perfect little family getwaway. We also loved sliding down the dunes. Driving along the sand to Noosa from Double Island Point was a pretty great way to head home after our beautiful family getaway.
